If you want a security guard that does not rest, that is on guard 24/7, that will NEVER back down when threat comes on your property, that is loyal and will die protecting you and your family, that will face-off lions, bears, and wolves without backing down, that is great with your family members even babies as long as he is introduced to them, then I have two guard dogs that are my favourites and that I would recommend when it comes to protecting your properties and family, and they are the full pedigree Italian Cane Corso Dog and the full pedigree Rottweiler dog!
In this article I will be focusing on the cane corso dog, the article where I talked about the full pedigree Rottweiler dog can be found here!
Question is "Why do I love the cane corso so much!", I do! I really do love this dog breed! And one of the reasons is because for the cane corso, just like the rottweiler, they don't need any training for them to guard or protect you and your property! The cane corso and the rottweiler have an in-built nature to protect their owners and their owners' properties! Cane corso dogs love to work, just like the rottweiler dog, these are working dogs, just give them a task to do and you have made their day! If you want them to protect you, all you have to do is release them and they take charge until you put them back in their cages, and even when they are in their cages, if they hear the voice of someone they do not recognise, or if they inhale the scent of something or someone they do not recognise, their bark is so loud and deep toned, that it will send chills down the spine of any intruder, and tell every stranger to "Back off! This is protected territory or else?!", you see what I mean! The cane corso dog means business at all times! While to the owner they are the friendliest creature you will ever come across! But when they are with their owners, they are always watchful of any and every danger lurking around the corner! You will never come across a cane corso dog that is not on-guard and alert!
One brilliant way I handle my dogs is to pay them as my security guards! That way I get to know just how valuable they are to me and my family and I get to know just how much money they are generating and saving for me! Keep a spreadsheet of these costs year-in year-out and you will get to value your dogs very very well!
When it comes to the rottweiler in particular, people especially in Nigeria have a very wrong mis-conception about the rottweiler, and I must admit I had that too before I started breeding the dogs and took time to really understand the rottweiler dog breed! Rottweilers are intelligent, and they are gentle giants!
As for the Italian cane corso dogs, they are giants indeed! But gentle they are not! When they know and trust you, they will give their lives for you! But when they do not know you (a Stranger), you dare not come near their humans!

The italian cane corso dogs are the same with the rottweiler in most ways, both of them are incredibly loyal dogs and will not back down in the face of threats to their humans or territory! Their main difference is that the italian cane corso dogs are slightly slender but more muscular and heavier than the rottweiler! Rottweilers tend to be broader and fatter!
Cane corsos have a stronger bite force of approximately 700Psi, let me show you how high or hard that is! Most lions have a bite force around 650Psi, the Italian cane corso has a bite force higher than that of most lions! Now that is some serious bite force! While a rottweiler has an average bite force of about 350Psi. This just shows you that the Italian cane corso dog is all MUSCLE! They look slender than a typical rottweiler but they are pure muscles!
They are more serious than the rottweiler dog. A Rottweiler dog is a very playful and friendly dog (unless you treat them aggressively and train them to be aggressive), and the rottweiler dogs will assess first if someone is a threat by barking loudly to warn before attacking! An Italian cane corso dog is alot more suspicious of all strangers! Cane corsos are also very intelligent and that will assess first before attacking, but they are alot more silent! They will only give one or 2 warning barks and growl, telling you to back off! And if you do not! They will start advancing! If it is a pack of cane corsos, they are so intelligent that every one has a role when they are in attack mode! They have a sentinel (The look out dog for more dangers)!, the threat assessor!, and if they are 3 in the pack, the alpha gives the go-ahead with any attack by leading the attack! They follow this pattern of attack, the alpha attacks first then the assessor follows suit! And the last to join in the attack is the sentinel after assessing that there are no further threat! This is what I mean that cane corsos are very intelligent and tactical in their attacks! They do not just attack like mindless beasts, they warn, assess the threat and decide what to do next! That is why I think the Italian cane corso dogs are the ultimate guard dogs in my opinion followed very closely by the Rottweiler dog!
Italian cane corso dogs have a human like stare, you would not know just how terrifying it is until you come face to face with one! They are a direct breed between macedonian mastiff dogs brought back by the Roman soldiers to Italy where these giant Greek dogs started mating with local Italian dogs to produce the two war dogs of Rome, the Neopolitan mastiff and the Cane corso (pronounced KAH-neh-KOR-soh).
The Italian cane corso were used as soldiers in battle, and they were fearless! Many were used as piriferi (Latin for "fire-bearers"), so the cane corso were used to charge across enemy lines strapped with buckets of flaming oils on their backs. These are warrior dogs! So they don't joke!
The name cane corso is derived from the Latin words canis (dog) and cohors (military guard)! So these are natural guard dogs that have the war nature of their ancestors (The giant war dogs of Rome the canis pugnaces, descended from ancient Greek Molossers), that is why they never back down when danger comes knocking! They face dangers head-on in a tactical manner, just like soldiers!

So you see now why I love and trust these 2 guardian dog breeds (The Italian cane corso dogs and the german bred rottweiler dogs) to protect my family and properties right!
